Autism & Social Communication Specialist
Michelle holds a BA Hons in Drama, a PGCE, and a Master's degree in Inclusive and Special Education, with her thesis and modules focused on autism spectrum disorders. With over a decade of experience in education — including teaching iGCSE Drama and working in specialist SEN roles internationally — she founded SLEducation to combine her drama training and specialist expertise into something genuinely different: a programme where communication skills are actively practised in real life situations — through improvisation, not scripts.
Michelle's qualifications span formal education and continued professional development across multiple specialist areas.

Social scripting can be useful for some individuals in structured, predictable situations. However, it has significant limitations. When a conversation veers off-script, it can cause intense panic or confusion. Relying on fixed phrases can make it harder to spot manipulation or social danger. Masking behind scripts can also leave individuals feeling disconnected from their authentic selves.
Roleplay and improvisation, by contrast, have been shown to be highly effective. Yet they are not as widely practised, largely because scripting is faster to teach. The evidence is compelling. Improvisation provides a comfortable, supportive environment to test social responses without the fear of real-world rejection or failure. It fosters independence and workplace readiness, reduces social anxiety, and improves personal and romantic relationships.
SLEducation is built on this evidence. Every session combines explicit teaching — helping individuals understand social settings, communication, and the reasoning behind social conventions — with improvisation practice that builds genuine, flexible skills that transfer to real life.
All sessions and resources are completely neutral. No political or religious viewpoint is brought into any session or material. The focus is purely on skill development, using clear facts and evidence.
